We'll use this premium business card for PSD in this demonstration. But you could use any business card template Photoshop file—even a blank business card template PSD. These skills will transfer.

1. Navigate Your Photoshop Layers
Photoshop layers are one of the most essential parts of working in Photoshop.
To open up your Layers panel, go to Window > Layers. An example of what this looks like is in the example screenshot below.
You'll notice that our layers here are organized into folders. Click to expand and contract them to show or hide what's inside them. This is the content of our design.
We can temporarily hide parts of our design by clicking on the eye icon, to the left of each layer. This toggles visibility on and off. It's a great way to remove content without necessarily deleting it. If you do want to delete a layer turn to the trash can at the bottom of the Layers panel.
2. Work With Double Sided Business Cards
A double business card template for Adobe Photoshop typically means working with two PSD files. This means the first PSD you open will be one side of the card, not both. But this doesn't mean you can't work with them both at the same time. In fact, sometimes it's beneficial to see both sides at the same time, especially as you make changes to the design.
Open your second PSD. With both open, click on the document tab and drag it away from the top area of the software to undock it. Then, resize and reposition your documents any way you like while you work on them. Toggle between them both to change each design.
3. Easily Edit Text With the Type Tool
Some of the most common edits you'll make in a business card template for Adobe Photoshop are text edits. You need the template to say your name, your title, and your contact info. We can easily achieve these edits with the Type tool, in your Tools panel.
Select the Type tool. Then, with the Type tool active, click on any of the existing type in your business card design. This makes it active. Then edit as you would in most word processing software.
But what if you want to add new type? That's simple too. Simply click in a new part of your layout that doesn't already have type. Photoshop automatically creates a new text layer for you.
4. Move Design Elements With the Move Tool
But what if you want to rearrange your design? We can do that too if we turn to our Photoshop Layers.
Go back to your Layers panel (we opened this up, earlier in this walkthrough. Again, go to Window > Layers to open it up, if necessary).
Next, select the design element you would like to reposition. You'll need to select the layer containing this design element. Not sure which is which? Remember, you can toggle visibility on and off using the eye icon to the left of each layer.
Select the layer with the content you'd like to adjust. Then, select the Move tool, in your Tools panel. Click and drag to move the design element to a new place in your composition.
5. Change the Color of Paths and Shapes
We can also change colors in our business card design. This particular design uses several paths to create abstract shapes in the design.
Looking at our Layers panel, click on the Layer thumbnail of any path layer to change its color. This brings up the Color Picker. Select a new color by clicking in the selection area or dragging the color slider. Once you've selected a new color, simply click OK to proceed.
Change and experiment with colors like this as many times as you prefer.
